Whether you are “Feeling the Bern!” or support the plan to “Make America Great Again” voting booths open tomorrow for all Florida residents. Sunday night, roughly 6,500 campaign supporters came to rally in Boca Raton’s Sunset Cove Amphitheater in support of GOP front runner Donald Trump. Across South Florida, Bernie Sanders supporters came out in large numbers as well to show support for the man marked the new Democratic Socialist. This has notably been one of the most intense and relatively unorthodox campaigns for the Presidency, however this is not deterring those from voicing their support of either side. From the beginning the media has done its best to cover all aspects of the election and here as voting booths open tomorrow one thing is for sure- the heat is on.
US News released a poll stating that most young people polled between the ages of 18-29 years old are becoming more well versed in the political arena. However according to recent numbers, less than one-fifth of young people state that they are politically active. The poll was engineered by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics which has helped to track various political and social ideals in young people for the past 15 years. The data stated that out of those polled, the two candidates in the lead in that age group were Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump.
A number of FAU students were seen in support of Donald Trump here in Boca, and some reported to have traveled all the way to Miami in support of Bernie Sanders. College junior Justin Hoffman stated “I feel that it is very important to vote no matter how old you are. There is no right reason not to vote. Many young people I’ve spoken to feel that their voice will not be heard, or their vote doesn’t count, but thats not true. Being uninformed is not an excuse!” Hoffman attended his first political rally in Miami earlier this week in support of Bernie Sanders and stated that while the amount in attendance was somewhat smaller than he had hoped, it was overall a very wonderful experience to be a part of.
