Spring may not start until the end of the month, but here in South Florida many festivals and fairs have already kicked into high gear with its focus set on the arts community. Following The 10th Annual Festival of the Arts which was held in Mizner Park over the past week is Art Boca Raton. Art Boca Raton is a four-day fair, featuring over 60 art dealers from over 20 countries showcasing art in all mediums. With a focus on 20th and 21st-century artwork, the exhibition will incorporate modern, contemporary and emerging artwork from various artists.
The event will benefit the Boca Raton Museum of Art and Art School which is located in the Northeast corner of Mizner Park and has served as a staple in the community since its humble beginning. The Museum was founded back in 1940 when a group of women formed the first all women’s civic group in the area and aspired to create a small library. Through their hard work and dedication, the library grew into a beautiful museum that has expanded to include an arts school located on Palmetto Park Blvd.
The event starts March 18th and will run until March 21st with a special preview March 17. The exclusive preview, named “Vernissage” is open to the public upon ticket purchase and is something you surely won’t want to miss. The preview will host many of the event coordinators, VIPs, art connoisseurs and world renown artists with hor d’oeuvre’s, dinner-by-the-bite and cocktails until 10:00PM. VIP collectors and connoisseurs may purchase tickets for $250.00 with doors opening at 6:00PM. Regular tickets are priced at $150.00 with doors opening at 7:30PM. All proceeds from Vernissage will be donated to the Museum.
The events over the course of the four-day exhibit will range from art exhibits, intimate talks with artists from around the globe, daily lectures on collecting artwork as well as film screenings. Interactive exhibits will be held throughout the weekend in which faculty artists from the Museum of Art will showcase certain talents and teach skills to all those in attendance in a series cleverly named Artist at Work. The Artist at Work exhibits will feature everything from painting porcelain, collage, gold leafing and figure drawing.
After enjoying the daily events Art Boca Raton is encouraging guests to join others at what Art Boca Raton is calling Art after Dark. Tickets are being sold to this separate event for $10.00 for VIP access ticket holders and general admission for $12.00. The exhibit offers events on different nights ranging from a pop-up fashion event, pop-up music and a pop-up Polaroid event. Enjoy wine and snacks while perusing the gallery and feel free to mingle with visiting artists, local collectors and museum curators. Parking for the Art After Dark events can be found within Mizner Park at metered spaces along the street or in one of their four parking garages where parking can be found for free.
All other tickets for Art Boca Raton are available at a daily rate of $20.00 or for a multi-day pass at $25.00, pricing does not include the preview.
