Boca Raton is home to restaurants that cater to a number of different palates. From tantalizing Mediterranean cuisine to Tex-Mex and Latin inspired dishes, Boca has just about anything and everything one would want. This week, we wanted to feature a well known restaurant that adds a little Asian-inspired zing to downtown Boca Raton.
But Lets Give You Some Background First…
South Florida restaurateurs Scott Frielich, Rodney Mayo and Vaughan Lazar have created an empire under the Subculture name. Their reach spans from West Palm Beach all the way down to Miami, with inspiration found in art movements with a dash of cultural influences from all over the world. From coffee shops, fine dining restaurants and gastro-pubs, these guys cant seem to open up a restaurant that doesn’t become an instant sensation. And Kapow! Noodle Bar is just that.
Kapow! blends Asian cuisine with what they call a “French-Vietnamese flair” making it just what Mizner Park needs. Under Executive Chef Caleb Holman, Kapow! focuses on signature dishes with their roots grown deep in Asian culture and blended with a little bit of Americana. From pork ramen, to Dim Sum dishes and a brunch thats been voted #3 Best Brunch in Boca by New Times, Kapow! truly needs little introduction. Their dishes range from small to shareable sized and even feature one of my personal favorites from their brunch menu, a Bacon and Jalapeño Rangoon. Did we mention they have a happy hour also?
But what sets them apart, other than their delectable menu, is their ambiance.Kapow offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with a large bar opening to an outdoor area shared with sister restaurant The Dubliner. The tables are all fashioned from re-purposed wood with a large bar made of sorghum straw, as owner Rodney Mayo made it a point to fill the restaurant with the most sustainable furniture possible with the lowest impact on the environment.
Kapow definitely gets the BocaNews seal of approval. From the dishes to the nightlife, craft beer selection and ambience, they offer more than just your run of the mill dining experience. Kapow! is open until Midnight on weekdays, and 2:00AM on weekends, so be sure to check them out!
