Florida’s Renaissance Festival has been a huge hit for Boca residents for years. Every year, thousands of families, couples and friends line up to embark upon a fun adventure of the 1500’s.
If you have never been to the Florida Renaissance festival then now is the year you make an appearance. It never fails to provide entertainment for an entire afternoon.
A typical day at the Florida renaissance fair is as follows.
You enter the fairgrounds and immediately you are loaded with excitement. The food is very good. You can enjoy a Shepard’s pie, chicken and rice or my favorite, a turkey leg. While sitting and enjoying your meal you can watch a live stage show which includes jesters, jokesters and live entertainment that the kids will love.
The Renaissance Fair Has Great Shopping
The vendors are the fair always bring very high-quality products. One would expect to see lots of cheap products at a public event like this but surprisingly the vendors at the Ren Fest are very passionate about their merchandise.
Typically you can see handmade jewelry, handmade costumes and clothes, swords, mugs and even bath products. Rest assured that money spent supporting the small businesses at the Renaissance Fair is money well spent.
Enjoy the Costumes
Maybe the best part about the Renaissance festival is the costumes. People take their “cosplay” very seriously and a lot of work and craftsmanship goes into the making of these costumes.
We see the workers and volunteers in costume but also the people who come to enjoy the day. While walking around the fair grounds it is not uncommon to see fairies, knights, jesters, kings, queens and peasants alike. There is no telling what you may run into.
Family Rides and Games
The kids will love it!
The fair offers a kids kingdom. An enchanted kingdom filled with bounce houses, games, arts and crafts as well as rides.
You can enjoy human-powered rides such as the giant rocking horse, flying carrousel, hurlinator and quintaine children’s joust!
Want to practice your Renaissance skills? There are loads of games that will help you develop the know-how of the 16-th century! One of the favorites is archery as well as balloon fencing and my personal favorite, ax throwing and knife throwing.
You can also visit the medieval battlefield for live examples of weapons training and jousting. You can practice your crossbow shooting and test your strength in the hammer hit.
Last but not least, there is a rock climbing wall and a zip line for those that are feeling courageous.
Don’t Forget the Live Entertainment
The talented stage actors never disappoint.
While walking the fair grounds you are sure to enjoy live music, live comedy acts as well as juggling and tomato throwing.
Large crowds always gather at the Jesters court and you can enjoy the live entertainment while you eat with the family.
