The weather this weekend is not going to be the best. With almost a 100% chance of heavy rain Friday through Sunday you may be trying to find things to do in Boca this weekend. Outdoor activities are usually a go to for most Floridians, we live here because we love the weather. Nothing beats a nice day at the pool or the beach. With those options taken away by inclement weather other plans need to be made.
iPic
When the weather is less than ideal I am a huge fan of going to the movies. iPic at Mizner Park is a great time. Their seating is reserved insanely comfortable, you’re given a blanket and even have waiter service. Make sure you get tickets early!
Seating is limited and tickets often sell out more than 24 hours prior to the movie starting. A restaurant is attached to the theater that serves a variety of above average dishes at slightly above average prices. It’s a great way to spend 3-4 hours of your rainy Friday night.
The Wick Theatre & Costume Museum
The Wick Theatre offers up some of the best live plays in South Florida. With a nice variety of shows being offered up this season there is a little something for anyone interested in live shows.
“Marilynn A. Wick Founder & CEO of Costume World, Inc. has devoted her life to amassing the nation’s largest collection of original Broadway wardrobes. Marilynn hails from a small town in western Pennsylvania and early on learned the importance of hard work and forward thinking. After earning her real estate license in three states, Marilynn relocated to Florida with her two daughters. She soon became very successful, owning and operating both a high rig construction cleaning company, and an international salvage business. She began to see the potential in the costume rental industry and from a beginning of only five Santa suits, Costume World was born. It is Marilynn’s vision and energy that has brought prestigious clients such as Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, Busch Gardens, Coca Cola, the US Army Entertainment and hundreds of esteemed regional theatres to Costume World. It is interesting to note that without a degree in theatre or any formal design training, that Marilynn was nominated for the prestigious Jefferson Award for costume design awarded yearly in Chicago for her designs for Singing in the Rain in 1990. With four facilities located throughout the United States, Costume World leads the way as the largest distributor of theatrical in the United States.”
Children’s Science Explorium
When the rain comes and the kids are stuck inside all weekend, it can be exhausting for the parents and boring for the kids. Instead of having them play video games or stare at an iPad all weekend, bring them to the Children’s Science Explorium.
The Children’s Science Explorium is located in Sugar Sand Park, it’s a hands-on science center designed for children 5 – 12 years of age and their parents. They offer fascinating and interactive exhibits, programs and camps that bring the physical sciences to life. In addition to their permanent exhibit collection, the Explorium offers visitors a variety of traveling exhibits each year. From rockets to molecules, the museum engages and teaches children about the fantastic world of science. Go out and learn something!
